Atlanta, GA (June 27, 2017) – O’Neill Communications’ Vice President Devika Rao will present a leadership session on building personal brands to the Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF) for Young African Leaders at the International Center for Public Policy at Georgia State University (GSU) on July 5, 2017.

The workshop will concentrate on building an online and social media brand while creating and providing valuable content to end-users. The fellows of the Young African leaders Initiative (YALI), many of whom are in the public health, law, economic and women’s health fields in their home countries, will utilize these best practices and apply it to their respective fields.

Leadership Session at Georgia State University“In today’s digital marketing space, being able to promote yourself and your overall brand online and on social media has become a key strategy in any marketing outreach,” said Rao. “To effectively ask ‘How do I use this space?’ and then execute successful strategies allows brands to thrive.”

Rao has worked with GSU’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies (GSU – AYSPS) since October 2016 by hosting a series of workshops on creating an active online and social media presence for its faculty and staff. She specifically collaborated with Dr. Sharon Hill, academic director of MWF-YALI and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Public Management and Policy at GSU - AYSPS for the YALI program.

Since 2014, the MWF chooses specific fellows to take part in a six-week academic and leadership training. This year’s fellows are coming to Atlanta from Botswana, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. The training kicked off at GSU on June 21, 2017.
